Neither really deserved it. Morris has almost a 4.0 ERA. Trammel was an above average hitter, but not a hall of famer. This is a stupid way to get into the hall imo. Wasn't Schilling denied because his regular season ERA was almost 3.5 even though his playoff stats are sick? If he can't get in then how in the world could Morris? That being said, I don't really think Schilling deserves to get in either...

you're making me sad :(
Do you think Ozzie Smith should be in the hall? He was in on the first ballot. Ozzie's slash .262/.337/.328 - Trammell .285/.352/.415 - both played short, both were good defenders, Trammell was much better offensively.

For Morris there's a lot more than just the ERA or WHIP. Bill James wrote

Morris may not be the best pitcher in the majors, but he's got to be the most consistent. Last year I talked about Morris doing something every year to solidify his credentials as a potential Hall of Famer. Last year he did a couple of major things to solidify his credentials, winning 20 games for the second time and striking out 200 batters for the second time. He's probably three or four good years away from the Hall of Fame now. Morris and Fernando (Valenzuela) have got to be the best anchors for a starting rotation in baseball today.

After that quote Morris had 2 top 5 finishes in Cy Young and 3 top 10. People talk about Roy Halladay and the amount of complete games he had. Roy had 67 career complete games, Morris had 175 CG's, including 20 in a season.

and Schilling has a few more years left to get in.

Agree on Trammell. Disagree on Morris.

Morris career ERA+ of 105... That's worse than Jhoulys Chacin.

Ozzie Smith's defense was worlds better than Trammell's, but honestly I don't think Ozzie deserved the hall. I think he was a media superstar, but not a HOF talent. People say "Ozzie was an all-star 15 times!" but I don't think his stats warrant it. Not sure why he always got so much love. For a speedy guy like that he should've had way more steals and a better batting average. I think he topped .300 once ever and most years he was closer to .250. He's a poor man's Jason Heyward.

The "consistency" stat is stupid. Everyone threw CGs back then. Roy is impressive because he did it in an era that no one else would. Just because the ding dong kept a 4.0 ERA for 15 seasons doesn't mean he's "consistent" he was just there. Consistently good, but never great.
