I recently changed from a 280x to the 1060 gfx card posted in the pic below. I also changed from a stock fan cooler to the h100i v2 liquid cooler. I got a new case as well, so I pretty much had to rebuild my computer. I'm not new to building computers, but I'm curious to know if I did something wrong. I'm not sure why, but my computer seems to be underperforming as it will lock up for a couple seconds pretty frequently. I use to be able to open 2 instances of runescape, spotify, battle.net (client) and have pretty much any amount of tabs I wanted in chrome (20 to give a number if that's helpful), and my computer would run everything smoothly. Now if I open 2 instances of RS, the clients run at very low FPS (like 10-15) if it isn't selected, where that use to not be a problem. In addition, my computer will lock up for a couple seconds every like 3-5 minutes. My computer shouldn't be having any issues running runescape of all things. I've tried playing a couple other games like Overwatch and Diablo and they run fine if there isn't to much else running, but I am not sure what is causing the sudden skips.

I'm not gonna lie, I am pretty noobish when it comes to drivers. I am like 99% sure I installed the correct drivers for my gfx card, but maybe I am missing something? If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it a lot.

e/ I just noticed my RAM is clocking at like 668 MHz on the Speccy s/s... I can't remember what I bought it at but I know it was > 2000. Any ideas on how to correct that?

e2/ Apparently I can troubleshoot a lot more than I thought... pretty sure it's my memory.

Any idea how to correct this? I didn't realize I had them in slots 2 and 4 on my computer (this was my first build and wasn't totally sure on which was 1 and 3 vs 2 and 4), so do I need to correct that? I hadn't really seen that as an issue previously.

Locking up is more towards the drives/OS. Did you DDU the AMD drivers before installing nvidia?

Oh I didn't - should I do that to both sets of drivers and reinstall completely?
e/ honestly been considering just reformatting my OS SSD, would now be a good time to do that? lol

I would suggest doing ddu and trying to eliminate the variable. Of clashing drivers. But if it's still going on then I would say just reformat your OS drive. Memory shouldn't cause a freeze

Memory can cause a freeze. I've had it happen from just a micro-bit of dust in the RAM slots.

Been a while. So I did all the DDU stuff and it didn't fix my problem. I decided I should probably just reset windows 10 or whatever. So I did that ONLY on my c drive, but now my computer is viewing my 1tb hdd as having only 465gb capacity. Lost a lot more than I planned on losing, but thankfully I backed it all up just to be safe. Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

If I need to just reformat that drive, that's OK. But was wondering if there were any other solutions.

Nvm. I'm an idiot. When reinstalling the OS, it reassigned the drives. :wallbash:

What is the make and model of your power supply?

You are starting to get a lot of hardware in there. It may be that w/e power supply used to be enough...no longer is?
