Used to play D2 a lot back when it was first out, have since quit and come back. My brother and I are looking at making a run at ladder this time for something new. Any suggestions on what 2 chars to run that go well together? And any tips for us starting out again? I've always played non ladder. How long on average would it take to start from 1 and end up in hell around 75-80? I know we won't be the quickest etc, but fun to try something new and maybe overtime make some fg etc. Thanks for the help in adv guys.

Played summon nec and fanazealer with a mate, ages ago, game was really easy thoigh a bit slow.
Also played fb->blizz sorc and java together, dmg was insane but survivability was lacking...

2 players, to be efficient you need a sorc for tele
then, 2nd char could be :
barb for BO/tank/find item (the barb wont do much killing but he distract monsters, leap, and give you 50% extra drops and BO that other chars cant procure)
Hdin for tank/high dmg (good overall even without tele)
Necro for lower resist/corpse explosion/few summons to tank (very fast once a monster is dead, can also use attract to neglect all dmg)
Druid for oak/summons used to tank (not the fastest but impossible to die, mostly used for hardcore)

Those are tier 1 ladder chars
others are tier 2-3 but anything with a sorc works easy

I like to do speed run with a naked necro. Easy to finish the game in 1 day without picking a single item (except for your merc)
Use attract to kill the first monster while they cant reach you, then CE+amp kills the whole screen.
You dont need to lose time to lvl up, just run through norm and nm using attract to avoid all monsters, all you need is lvl 20 CE, 1 pt in attract and 1 pt in amp, a lvl 20 necro can solo hell chaos easy haha
A single point in life tap and your merc can't die vs any boss, he just need an item with crushing blow and the game is over.

Bowzon and necromancer. Necromancer for skeletons and golem which gives protection, and to cast amplify damage, which will greatly enhance bowzon's damage. Will make boss fights a lot easier.
