Cause i paid full price when it came out and I was disappointed. Not many cars, which is odd for a racing game, no "campaign", and the online mode is complete shit. I love the gameplay, but they better get their shit together cause its so boring atm.
The last racing game I played was the first Forza. And it had more content than GT Sport.

But honestly you just gotta be patient. They built GT Sport from ground up and unlike Forza didn't carry over old content into the new one. I think what many people didn't like about GT5/6 was the fact that they literally imported the cars over without any change, even the exhaust notes were complete shit.
They have already said by the end of GT Sport life cycle, there will be 550 cars in the game.
But just looking at the core of the game, it is SO polished. the physics are amazing, the graphics are sensational, the exhaust notes are finally beautiful and realistic and don't sound like a vacuum, everything is just so polished. I think it's the content that is displeasing people and I totally get that!
I'm excited for the future of the game because I think they are on the right path!
edit: and a race happens every 15 minutes! So in the mean time run a few practice laps. Atleast this is what I do.
