I recently swap over to a 1060 3gb card i also started to use a HDMI cord.
But with dual display i use one hdmi main and one dvi.

I run into this problem randomly like might happen 3x in a day.
Where my screen would freeze but i can still hear gameplay/youtube in the background perfectly.
After like maybe 8ish seconds everything resumes.

I was wondering is it my card or maybe the hdmi cord/dvi duo?
Also to mention im using my xbox one HDMI cord. But both screen would freeze so not sure if that's the problem.

Also i ruled out my CPU since everything was running in the background fine still like youtube etc? But i could be wrong?

It's not the cables.
Could be driver/software or some form of throttling/bottleneck.
Doubt its failing hardware but I guess its plausible.

yeah sounds like driver is crashing and recovering, check your event log at the times it happens

What resolutions are the two displays?

main 1920x1080
and 1680x1050

What happen is when say im playing "WoW' my screen would freeze i can't windows/taskmanager etc but everything is still going like sound. Even on my 2nd display my youtube video will still be running and when i try to pull my youtube tab over to the main screen that is frozen it freezes too.
But it unfreezes after 8-10seconds.

It doesn't occur often like if i was to sit here for 12 hours+ maybe twice or 3x if i stay up really late.


So i just did a full reformat.
I'll see if it happens again.
