Currently this machine is running i5-2500k with a GTX 770 SC

I got a free i5-6400 and 1060 3gb

Would it be worth it to use these over my old rig? (Gaming)

The GTX 1060 for sure. The i5 6400 probably not so much.

would it still be worth it since my i52500k is over 5 years?
Or would i see a big game decrease from the processor?

Skylake runs on 1151. You couldn't just swap the CPU

It doesn't matter how old the 2500K is ...it's a faster chip. It can also be overclocked as well.

/e If you switched to the 6400 you would have to buy a new motherboard and new RAM.

Both the 6400 and the 2500K, have built in graphics...the 6400's being the better option.
So you could just run the 6400 build with the 770 and the 2500K with the 1060...and end up with two comps.
