Once you get to Neptune get to the point you unlock the Index its also one of the story quests I believe you need to finish (The Glast Gambit or Chains of Harrow) can't remember which one but once you can start doing the index you can start making mass amounts of credits. Believe I farmed up around 3.5 million credits in about an hour and a half last time I farmed.
