I was just given a banana plant that is about 6ft tall. I do not know much about banana plants. I currently have it planted in my backyard about 12ft away from my septic tank. I am concerned with how fast it is growing and if i should move it to a new location, because im afriad the roots might damage something wether it be the tank or the pipes. Im not sure how strong banana plant roots are and if they even will damage anything. Any incite on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

You should move it now while you still can and never worry about it again, busted poo pipes could get messy

http://ths.gardenweb.com/discussions/2533332/can-roots-from-banana-plant-damage-pool-or-planter
=> not a problem, banana "tree" roots are like weed roots, and are mostly at the surface. Very soft.
