region locked game codes are a lot more common nowadays to prevent ppl from snatching them up cheap from poor/destitute parts of the world like africa/the middle east/europe and reselling for more to people in more developed parts of the world.

I think it's a good thing. Allows these products to be sold at prices they will actually sell at in these markets without cutting into their profits in other regions. This is a net gain for everyone except those trying to profit off of less fortunate parts of the world
