so a friend of mine attempted to torrent a video game last week

got some malware and now her pc will not start up, it goes thru the endless "windows needs repair options?" screen

windows 8.1

when attemping to use command prompt, it says there appears to be no admin access and wont let you

and other things that require admin access fail to work the same way

when attempting to install or repair windows thru a flash drive it wont let you do it either

it keeps saying the disk drive is locked and wont let you do anything to it until its unlocked, but without admin options i have no idea how to do that

so what to do? is this a problem i could fix by plugging her hdd into mine and running some program thru it?

upgrading windows? no idea

i did take the malware off the hdd using malwarebytes, unsure if thats a super good way to know if the hdd is safe or not anymore

is there any easy homegrown way i can find to diagnose how to fix this? or is it out of my power(meaning i could plug her hdd into my computer and do whatever i just dont know how)

Format it.
If the bios is locked replace the bios chip.

I'm sure I could of fixed it via linux but explaining it and doing it would of required much more time then I was willing to invest.
