Gonna be interesting to see how a free trade deal between the UK and US plays out with Biden as president. Trump was good mates with Boris and liked Brexit, whereas Biden has Irish republican sympathies (important in relation to GFA) and he dislikes Boris.

Don't expect much of a difference. With Joe, it will also be America first, which it always has been.

Within these trade deals, the UK is but a tiny economy in comparison, drawing the shorter straws.

Told you the deal was close. It's just on the EU to drop their outrageous demands over fishing rights in our waters and we're good to go.

The UK and Canada have agreed to roll forward the EU trade deal: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-55031443

Good news. A comprehensive FTA can be negotiated over the next few years to supercede it.

Idk but it's starting to look like 2020's ending on a high note.

- FvD (biggest alt-right party in NL) is imploding due to internal struggle (after nazi propaganda leaked from their youth party chats).
- Cummings out in the UK.
- Loads of vaccines showing promising results.
- Transition started for Biden.

I wonder how 2020 is going to fuck this all up.

Lol'd when I read 'Cummings out in the UK', I mean it's pretty good news but not sure it's right up there with a covid vaccine

We've agreed to drop elements of the Internal Market Bill that would have broken international law upon reaching an agreement earlier today.

The EU knew May would back down because she was too rational and moral to knowingly inflict the damage of a no deal scenario on the British people, but they also know Boris doesn't have anything to lose.

May would never have broken or even threatened to break international law, but would Boris? Maybe...we just don't know. He's unpredictable. If we get a deal, Boris looks good. If we leave without a deal, Boris can blame the EU and say he stood true to the will of the British people and delivered on the referendum result. Giving in to EU demands is actually the least enticing option for Boris to choose if he's just thinking about his own reputation rather than for the benefit of the country, which we all know to be true.

Therefore, even though I dislike Boris far more than I did May, he has done a lot better in the negotiations thus far because the EU can't reasonably call his bluff. It would be a shame to see negotiations fail in the final hour over such minutia but the fact it's minutia and not significant relative to the overall deal is why I think a deal is going to be agreed.
