Labour leadership voting intention (first preferences):

K. Starmer: 46%
R. Long-Bailey: 32%
J. Phillips: 11%
L. Nandy: 7%
E. Thornberry: 3%

Looking good for Sir Keir Starmer to be the next leader of the Labour party. If Long-Bailey gets in, the party is finished.

What's the difference between these 2?

Starmer was one of the country's top humanitarian lawyers before politics, he is crazy smart. None of the other candidates match him in that regard.

He's also not a Corbynite like RLB. If anything, he is in the centre of the party, and he refuses to condemn the last labour government like Corbynites do.

I just think he's a much more credible option that the electorate will look at and think: 'I could trust the finances and security of this country with your government', which was clearly an issue with Corbyn.

I see, thank you. :)

I remember back in November and December, Starmer's name came up a lot during the final debates about Johnson's Brexit bill. It felt a bit like Starmer was already taking over the leadership of Labour during that time, while Corbyn was being a wobbly like jelly.

Starmer is a passionate remainer unlike Corbyn so he fought as hard as he could for a second referendum. When Corbyn lost the election Starmer conceded that the issue of Brexit was now over and he will not look for a second referendum as leader.

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of Richard Huckle, one of Britain's worst paedophiles, who posted on the so-called "dark web" as he abused up to 200 Malaysian children.

Huckle was found dead on October 13 last year at Full Sutton prison in Yorkshire, where he was serving 22 life sentence for his vile catalogue of crimes.

He was reportedly stabbed with a makeshift blade.

More gruesome details have now been revealed about how the notorious child abuser died, with a source telling The Sun: "He wasn't just stabbed. He was strangled with a guitar string."

The Sun also reported that Huckle allegedly had ballpoint pens and condoms shoved down his throat.

Earlier this week Humberside Police said a 29-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the death.

Freelance photographer Huckle, from Ashford in Kent, was jailed in 2016 for an unprecedented number of offences against children aged between six months and 12 years from 2006 to 2014.

Judge Peter Rook QC gave the 30-year-old 22 life sentences and ordered him to serve a minimum term of 25 years.

No mercy.

The EU is planning to give the UK a much worse trade deal after Brexit than either Canada or Japan
