I know that the right-wing loves their victim mentality, but actions having consequences does not equal extortion.

Which right wing are we talking about? US or UK?
Cause the only victim mentality in the US lives on the... left. :)

I think he means the wing that is given all the information, then misrepresent it by leaving out the last 3 words of a quote to make it look like the UK was the victim of the EU.. "extortion"

But then again, analyzing what you say and then going into it, is usually not really productive.

Yep, going towards a hard Brexit. Basically the agreement there was would been thrown off the table. For a part it's even understandable, the plan is dead in the water. If not changed drastically a soft Brexit is not gonna happen. I'm pretty sure that the plan as it is, is not completely fair to the UK as well, they've faced tough deals with the EU operating as a block, with elections getting closer. May will end up having stories like Yanis Varoufakis, if she'll stay in politics at least..

With the chaos being what it is, right now i'd say the wisest thing to do is to cancel article 50. Start from scratch with the negotiations without a deadline and initiate article 50 when you come to an agreement. That's how it should have been from the start tbh. Have the 2 years to prepare for the change.

Boris will probably go for a hard Brexit with not enough time to mitigate, another way to start from scratch. Life in the UK and the EU are gonna get a bit more worse than it needed to be. yaay

Revoking article 50 and starting "open-ended" negotiations would be a 100% guaranteed way of cancelling Brexit for good, and everyone knows it.

Proceeding with Boris is a guaranteed way of going for a hard Brexit, with higher chances of what you suggested there :)

/e: And apart from what the public had voted for.. its still wise to stay in the Eu, reform it from within, if the choice were to become an option.

I'm not taking a stance here on whether cancelling Brexit altogether or going for a hard Brexit would be the worse outcome. I'm just saying that a position which looks like a reasonable compromise at first glance ("start open-ended negotiations") would not work here, would be an easy to see through dagger in the back of Brexit. A politician representing this position would politically be a dead man walking.

just looking at what's practically the best at this time. Brexit failed, May is gone. Starting over with the set limitations is impossible. It's either a hard Brexit, no Brexit, or a lot more time to negotiate.
