So here's the deal : The last time I build my own computer, it had a 128mb Video Card in it, and that card was $400 at the time lol. Since then, I've primarily used laptops as I was traveling constantly. Now I'm finally stationary, and I want a desktop again.

I'm only looking to spend about $1000 - $1200 on the tower, I can go a bit higher if its absolutely necessary for what I need. I also want it to be an mATX motherboard, because I like the Fractal Node 804 case w/ window. Other than that, I'm just trying to get the best build for my buck.

I'm mostly looking for something I can edit 4k drone footage on, as well as occasional gaming and photoshop use. I don't play a lot of graphics intensive games, LoL, WoW, Overwatch, etc. But I do have a 4k 65" TV that I'd love to be able to play from when I feel like it.

I've always bought Intel, because I like smaller form factor, and up until recently, AMD's options were pretty bad for that, but if the Ryzen cpu's are better for my purposes, I'd definitely be fine with AMD.

Anyways, any build suggestions would be appreciated. I could sit on pcpartpicker for a month and not make a decision. Too many options!

Amd -includes 1tb HDD - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ym4k2R

Intel - 1tb HDD excluded - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WLWdyf

Let others post tho, I don't edit 4k footage, but this should do it ;)

Also, input lag will be an issue on a 4k tv, nothing to do with the PC but the latency of the TV (like 30 ms or something absurd). Typical monitor has 3-5 ms

My AMD attempt :)

In b4 Intel vs and builds :P

Amazed that the first build is actually within budget. All of the threads I've seen in here most people double the persons budget lol.

Should have stated also, I do have Amazon Prime. I'm finding a lot of things are cheapest on Amazon because of that. Will check out that build and keep researching while waiting for more! Thx :)

I mean, if you find everything cheaper, throw the extra $$ at a 1070 instead of a 1060. About $100 difference.

Yeah, I know there is some lag when playing on a tv. But usually if I'm on a tv it would be for something like flying around gathering in WoW. Or just wanted to get a bigger photo for photoshop lol. Nothing hardcore.

I have 2x 1TB and 1x 3TB HDD's right now, so can definitely eliminate those! From what I've read the Ryzen should be better than the Intel if I prioritize editing over gaming, and even possibly for gaming at 4k. If that's true, definitely wanna go with AMD, but I know everyone has their preferences and I welcome all builds!

Adobe Premiere Pro for almost everything. Vegas and some others if I'm needing certain effects.

Will check that out. Everything I use now is Intel so have nothing to compare it to myself. TV does have HDMI 2.0, but not 100% concerned about the gaming on the TV part of things. I do also have a couple 1080p monitors and smaller tvs. Got a lot of screens going on most of the time. No more than 2 per machine though.
