What about serious diseases the aren't STDs? Should a person be legally required to stay at home?

The distinction is that you are knowingly doing something that is harmful. If you know you have an STD and engage in intercourse without telling the person you are an absolute piece of shit and need to be held accountable.

If i have Ebola, know i have Ebola, and go and make out with Skinneds and Thors wives then yes i need to be held accountable for exposing innocent people to dangerous diseases. Remember the Ebola nurse? If she somehow found out she had it and then went around knowingly spreading it then by all means she needs to face punishment.

Serious diseases that are transmitted via blood should screened and those that are positive should be prohibited from donating blood, as this is something easily preventable

However you are referring to serious airborne diseases in your post, so let's take influenza for example. If you have the flu the official recommendations ARE to stay home during the contagious periods, people are just unaware of these recommendations. If you are in the hospital and have the flu you will be sent home and possible written up.

That seems like a different topic than knowingly concealing your HIV status from someone and exposing them to it willingly. To your post though, if someone knew they had the flu and intentionally sneezed in everyone's faces with intent to give them the flu then I believe that person should be charged with a crime since people die from the flu every year.

So then giving somebody the flu should be made illegal as well. There's obviously monetary loss if they miss work. Negligence is no excuse!

Did you seriously just compare knowingly transmitting HIV and giving someone the flu?

Yes you get both gonorrhea and HIV through sex. One has an indolent course with minimal long term complications and one requires life long attention and a significant financial commitment

If you have unprotected sex and get HIV, that's ultimately on you. If you are sick and require a blood transfusion, subsequently being exposed to and contracting HIV - that is a system failure. This is why hep C incidence has dropped substantially, because it is illegal for them to donate blood products, rightly so.

Oncogenic viruses...scary shit.

Yes, since other infectious diseases that are dangerous are to be reportet by any doctor to the authorities and you get confined/restricted until cured. If you get the plague and are infectious people also won't let you just stroll along the street.

Maybe read up on the subject before making uneducated comparisons.

Italian man sentenced to 24 years for infecting dozens of women with HIV

Maybe we should import some Italian politicians, and let them have California.

Statistically though mate... this must be a tiny proportion of crimes so... Why do you care? It's statistically irrelevant. Honestly, whoever made this thread should be ashamed.
