I tried the game a while ago but ended up being overburdened with just 1 camp that trades, had all this stuff but could rarely off it for bullets. i mostly walked south after a couple main quests but wasnt able to get far after running out of smmo

Is there a city in fallout 4 equivalent to fo3's rivet city?

drumlin diner is the 1st place to buy/sell stuff
diamond city is a big city with multiple vendors and you literally get a quest to go there like as your 3rd quest
heres a map of locations if you need just save it then zoom in and look around

Thx, ya i knew about diamond city but internet said its risky to go there right away. I ended up spending too much time building settlement and by the time i was ready to play i found myself getting 1hko by mines and flaming cocktails lol

I started again on survival (lol) but am having a much easier time now that i get the perk system and other mechanics better

I did not know about drumlin, the internet suggested sticking north (i went south on first game, ran into crazy mutant camp) so that helps deal with enemy encounters

That map is amazing

Is it normal to level up the base special stats near the beginning?

Diamond city isn't that bad to get to. You can sneak to it if you approach from directly north. It is the west and east ends of the city that would be hard to get through.

Goodneighbor is the other trade hub, but it's way more dangerous to get to.

I wouldn't unless you absolutely need to. You can play with mods and have all of it leveled up, but if playing normally, I would suggest planning your build such that no points are wasted. This means putting one less point in each SPECIAL category than you need at the start of the game since you can find a point in each from bobbleheads.

Only put points into SPECIAL if your planned build requires additional points or if you are end game and have nothing better to spend them on.

Since you can't really do anything to drastically help you progress through the game using caps I don't really see how this could be construed as "needing" to use it, but even so I would rather do an easy glitch for 20 minutes than spend 20 hours picking up garbage to sell to get the same amount of money
