It's funny because i'm actually considering a midsize pickup..
I'm stuck between a Taco and a Colorado.. Both have ups and downs..
Taco:
Cheaper
Has great reviews across the board
Off road capable
Mediocre at best steering capabilities
Colorado:
Gorgeous little truck
Decent power in the v6
The trim I'd want/need is fucking ridiculously expensive.
idk, I'm kind of leaning towards either the Volvo if I get the car or the Taco if I get the truck.. The TRD Offroad with the big ass cabin.
steer me right guiz.
Don't buy a midsize truck. You get the negatives of a car and a full size truck and the positives of neither. When I bought my 14 Silverado MSRP was $50k for a 5.3 crew cab/full size bed/Z71 2LT All-star. I paid right at $40k for it after rebates.
When I took delivery there was a new Colorado parked behind mine. They had just come out and the guy paid MSRP of $35k for the the damn thing. It was a Z71 with similar options as my big ass 1500.
I get 20mpg on my commute and average 17 in the city with a best of 25mpg over a 200 mile trip on rural 2 lane.
The Colorado gets slightly better but it can't pull 10k or pull my 6klb boat as comfortably as mine. I have almost as much room as a mega cab in the back which makes it our preferred vehicle for road trips with more than 2 adults.
Get a 1-2 year old half ton with nice options and low miles. You'll get the balance of the factory warranty too. 5/100k powertrain and many people opt for the 5/100k or 7/70k GM bumper to bumper which is transferable. You can call them and add it if you buy used before the basic 3/36k bumper to bumper runs out.
