Depends on situation. For running countess players settings have no effect on drops. For LK running settings can have en effect. Some monsters like Shenk and Eldritch have drops unaffected by player settings, while act bosses change drops based on settings. People try to outline what rules they'll be using in their intro.

Do what you want. A Sorc is strong and if you farm for good gear in NM you can handle Hell up to a3 no prob, at which point you can farm the rest of the endgame gear.

P1 will always be faster if you dont care about drops. Even with crap gear a sorc will run over hell with ease
