Were the original on PSP, and Final Fantasy II & III (4 & 6) on the SNES. When 7 came along, they became too obsessive about making you find "secrets" just in order to beat the game.

Lies, it's nothing about finding secrets but more of leveling and upgrading. Just like in ff8, all you gotta do is make your epic weapon on your main team and find the right strategy for each super boss. IE the desert boss, underwater boss in ff7 or IE omega weapon in ff8. The games themselves were pretty easy but it was fighting and defeating all the epic bosses that made them kinda hard

uwot

the games were still linear, what secrets do you mean that you had to look for?

if you're talking about the strongest spells, weapons, etc, which are indeed well hidden (thankfully, as sidequests and "treasure hunts" were what made these games last longer), then you're wrong about you needing to find them in order to beat the game... the games are easy enough to be beaten without amazing gear, stats or magic.

also, FFVI has a lot of "hidden" espers and godly weapons/armors, and it functions very much like VII in many ways, so I'm not sure what your problem is...

the imagination can only take you so far with character made out of ten different coloured squares. 7 8 9 10 are where its at, after that its not really final fantasy anymore just a bunch of random people trying to re create the dynamic of hironobu s. and nobuo u. while also keeping up with the times and pandering, and failing horribly at it. closest thing you'll probably get to the next final fantasy after that is lost oddysey the game those two made together after leaving square, which I always thought was an absolutely hilarious tittle because "lost odyssey" is literally a synonym of "final fantasy" hahahaha

III, IV, V and VI are all really good too imo... but I agree that after 10 (when Square and Enix fused) it stopped being FF

10 was Great, I personally really enjoyed 13 Trilogy. 15 was all right, but I hated the battle systems.

12 I think sucks.

11/14 I never wanted to pay per month.

8>9>7 but, 8 got me into the series. (Thanks Pizza Hut)

a friend got FFI for christmas in the 90's (NES). we were hooked!

in 7th grade i got a SNES for my birthday with FFIV -this is still one of my favorites. especially the DS remake! -i actually have a SNES cartridge with an adamant armor. this is insane to do on SNES.

i bought FFVI for $65 from target when it was new. i still love this game!

when i graduated high school i got a PC (266 MHz!) and it could kind of run FFVII. what a great game! spent a lot of time findong speed/power/magic tabs until all players maxed.
