I dunno about japan but china and NK have terrible safety standards

Theres also a low marriage rate in Nip land. They are probably correlated somehow.

the long hours are impacting people's social lives
the exact severity is not known but it's certainly a factor

Private companies will skirt the bounds of safety and often beyond if the monetary risk doesn't outweigh the reward.

No if you don't want to work then go home. Don't like your job quit. Government shouldn't control someone how much they want to work.

OH&S regulations here stipulate the maximum hours in a day/week or longer shift an employer can ask an employee to work.

Here in Canada if we work overtime it's 1.5x regular pay... if it's overtime during holiday its double time 2.0x regular pay...

but holy shit overtime for no pay? that's harsh man thats harsh
