What truth, in your opinion, are atheists suppressing, and how? I would argue the opposite: theism and faith in particular require the surrender of one's intellectual faculties.

There are even stranger passages than the ones you mentioned - I particularly like the one about cutting a woman's hand off if she grabs a dude's rod during a fistfight :lol:

And then there are the downright obscene ones, ones that demonstrate the lengths of depravity one must reason themselves into to condone...

That one verse admits all verses are made up and inspired by god correct?

To the OP, the answer is a combination of the below:

* Lack of objective critical thinking and self criticism
* Indoctrination and peer pressure from friends / family from an early age
* Self doubt / fear of the unknown
