This is a very busy area with lots of shops and restaurants , so its obvious why it was targeted

If Spain didn't bomb the Middle East so much this wouldn't have happened.

I hope the casualties are the myriad pickpockets who lurk that street. Was there in a group of ~10 and 2 got their wallets and phones stolen.

I hope the Spanish authorities are capable of catching the perps and bring them to justice.

Could it possibly be both? If radical Muslims were able to more easily enter the US and plan attacks, don't you think the motivations would both be religious/social and political within respects to the actions of the US in the middle east?

Don't really view that topic as black and white. You have people who are molded from a culture that is warped so they are placed into a society that is polar opposite and the religious motivation and then the political motivations probably both factor in at the same time.
