I've tried to sell mine once or twice on craigslist and people offer ridiculously low that I just ended up keeping them.

Was given my 300 lb set by family who didn't want to lug it around when moving and now I've moved it myself to 3 different apartments haha

Yes, they are ugly. But price per pound its hard to find better in Canada unless you look for used.

I'd also likely splurge on my plates , but 45 pounds is 45 pounds and its not a hex plate.

Can someone explain the purpose of a hex plate. I have gone to a gym for the first time while travailing that is all hex plates. I have to toss on a bigass bumper plate then load all 35's from there so they don't hit the floor.

I don't know but my gym uses hex bumper plates and I feel like a dipshit everytime I do deadlifts. That and they're hard as fuck to load/unload on the bar sometimes.

I don't know if they ever would but I would be nervous about them rolling back, plus if you have a set up where you pull the bar into you before you lift it just completely screws it up.

I see no reason as to why they were invented. Just to test patience I guess.

I have read online that it is to actually discourage people from dead lifting in commercial gyms where they don't want it to happen. This could be complete BS though as that seems like a stretch as to why they were put into mass production.

Anytime I'm doing deads with a reset at the bottom, they always roll away from me and I have to completely reset. Fucks my mojo up. One of the gyms has bigger bumper plates and that are slightly bigger than the hex 45s so I'll go there when it's a heavy session, otherwise tap and constant tension.

They serve no purpose other than they look nice.. I guess.

I don't like how they look at all.

My favourite plates to lift with were always the Rogue 45's or the 55's. To bad my current gym is just complete shit metal ones that all have different weight written on them in marker because none of them actually weigh 45.
