You looking for metal or rubber?

A dollar a pound here. But Id hunt on Kijiji a bit to be honest. If you want the full rubber bumper plates the cheap ones are useless if you are lifting more than 405 Lbs as they wont fit on the bar. You have to splurge a bit and go for the more expensive bumpers.

Those are ugly as fuck. If I ever get home gym equipment outside of what I have for my bench (non-bumper plates) I'm definitely getting rogue or eleiko. I don't give a fuck how expensive they are. They're pretty and I like to invest in my hobbies.

when it comes to plates, it's always worth seeing if you can get used imo. a plate's a plate, so long as it fits on whatever bar you're using, right?

Yes, they are ugly. But price per pound its hard to find better in Canada unless you look for used.

I'd also likely splurge on my plates , but 45 pounds is 45 pounds and its not a hex plate.

Can someone explain the purpose of a hex plate. I have gone to a gym for the first time while travailing that is all hex plates. I have to toss on a bigass bumper plate then load all 35's from there so they don't hit the floor.

$1/lb. is the standard around me. If you're lucky you can find them on Craigslist or Letgo for like .65-.85c/lb., though. Usually a LOT of people selling around February and March when they realize they're not going to stick to their New Years resolutions.
