Shouldn't run that hot. You should be using a GPU fan speed program like MSI Afterburner.

EVGA GTX 1080 FTW

Cable management might be bad since I'm a first timer.

I may go to a computer store and have them rearrange things for a small fee

The messy cables, in your case aren't the problem. I would use EVGA Precision X instead of MSI ASfterburner. They are practically the same program, but Precision is made for EVGA cards.

OR...turn up the fan speed/curve a bit.

Hmm that card should not run 90c
what % are the gpu fans running at when it reaches that temp?
Use afterburner to control your gpu fan curve, what's your room ambient temperature?

if anything, EVGA has gfg customer service. If your room is not an oven explain your problem, and they'll replace it np.

I have that same GPU.

If you bought that over 6 months ago you need to contact EVGA and get the free thermal pads for the VRM. Re-Do the thermal paste while your in there, they include a free thing of compound

I just adjusted the fan curve on MSI afterburner. Let's see if it helps.

Room temp is cold. Comp is in basement which is always very cold. Fans are running 90% once it reaches 70C

If it's a refurb and they fucked up the thermal paste or didn't re-apply it at all that would 100% cause a problem.

It's odd though because idle temps hover between 27-35 or so. All other games run around 60C
