Hey guys. I've tried starting stronglifts 5x5 before and never dropped weight at the beginning of the program like you're supposed to as a beginner, so I'd always get burnt out after a few weeks and quit. But now I'm willing to follow the program exactly as prescribed and see what happens. So I'm going for a three month challenge. After about two months I should be lifting around my normal amounts, and then one month of progress. Then if it goes well I'll just keep going until I start to plateau.

Why stronglifts 5x5 and not SS, Wendlers, etc? It's mostly just because I've tried SL and given up before, so it's kind of a personal thing.

My current lifts are, at 5'8 and ~160 lbs:
Bench: 145 x 3
Squat: 235 x 5
Deadlift: 245: 1
OHP: 115 x 5
Row: 135 x 5

My diet is to eat 2,800 cals a day at 50% carbs, 30% protein, 20% fats throughout the program.

This thread is going to be a little blog about my thoughts on the program. It will probably be pretty light in the beginning since today the workout has me just benching the bar, but after six weeks or so hopefully I'll have something interesting to say about it.

This is just one step on my way to being a loyal swoldier of the almighty Brodin. Wheymen.

/e well fuck me this isn't H&F

What's the 5x5 thing about?

What makes it different than a regular workout routine with the same compound movements?

Stronglifts is very squat oriented. I play tennis so leg strength is important to me. Other than that, I dunno. A lot of people are against SL's linear progression, but I don't think it will matter for me.

I mainly focus on squats as well but more for aesthetics than a sport.

Can you give me details? I can google but I'm working atm.

More squats oriented how? I'm intrigued!

Now that you mention it, my OHP might only be 95 lbs lol. I don't do barbell OHP that often.
