its an $40 extra for the 1500 with 3.5 which tops the boost to 3.4
would i still need a $200 mb or no since i dont need to overclock?

No, the 1500X (3.5Ghz) automatically jumps to 3.7Ghz when needed. The 1400 (3.2Ghz) jumps to 3.5Ghz.

I'm assuming you're in Canada? You say your room is too warm? :)

No there are much cheaper builds that won't overclock.

Here, have a look...the ones with the X are overclockable. This list is sorted by price, in Canada.

In the top right of that web page, you can choose prices from w/e country you want.

They all boost...er have Turbo. That has nothing to do with overclocking.

Ryzen is pretty much the way to go for price/performance, atm.

I would say, that for what you want, the minimum would be....

A true 4 core CPU, 3.5Ghz or better. The FX-8350's are a 4 module CPU, not a 4 core.
16GB of DDR4 RAM. All the new AMD and Intel CPUs, (generally purchased for gaming) req. DDR4 RAM.
A GTX 1060

/e Btw, all the modern CPUs have Turbo (boost). Yes, you can turn it off, but unless you are overclocking, why would you turn it off?

Just sayin u can get 3 cost efficient quality parts based on ur budget rather than overpaying too much on a certain part, or getting non quality parts etc.
but if u wanna figure it out on ur own u can do that too ofc

Or, you could just fill this out, and see what suggestions you get. Since budget is the limiting factor, it's always good to start with that.

Topic Title: Need a Desktop PC built

Budget:
More specific use (what games, what programs):
Planned time until purchase:
Do you need an Operating System?:
Do you have any specific preferred components?:
Do you need a sound or wireless card?:
Do you want stock cooling or do you plan on overclocking?:
Do you need a monitor? mouse? keyboard?:
Zip code/location? (Shipping costs):

I can see there needs to be a hit squad, sent to the AMD, CPU naming dept. :/

Especially when they spend 4-5 years doing it one way, then changing. Intel is just as bad. :)
