AMD X8 FX-8350 (125W) Eight-Core Socket AM3+, 4GHz CPU, 8Mb Cache, 32nm

its $180 canadian seems pretty good for the price is it worth looking into? i need a serious pc upgrade im using a toaster atm :P
i looked up performance comparisons and it was out performing more expensive i5 intels that were like 3.2 ghz

hoping this would be able to run most new games at low-medium settings range since i will likely end up with a mid range video card at best
is this doable or should i look into something else?

also how big of a difference is ram speeds like 1600 vs 1800? is 1600 good for gaming or even 1200 or w/e was lower?
i feel like 1200 would be plenty since im still using my ddr2 ram whichi s like 900 and hasnt done me wrong but i dont really know shit

The FX 8350 is pretty much a dead platform (it also requires DDR3 RAM).

I would be looking into the lower priced Ryzen CPUs if I were you.

im aware it requires ddr 3 ram i dont see why that would be a problem? i didnt paln to use my ddr2 ram if thats what you were assuming
tbh i was hoping to build a somewhat budget pc by buying a MB/cpu/ram throwing in my old crappy geforce card until i get a decent radeon and using my case/power supply etc etc

AMD Ryzen 5 1400 Quad-Core, 8 Threads Processor with Wraith Spire Cooler
Socket AM4, 3.2GHz Base/ 3.4 GHz Boost, 14nm, 65W (YD1400BBAEBOX)

thats $220 but its 3.2ghz is that better then the one i posted? usually more ghz is better no?
next one up is $260 which is too much :(

/e You could also get the 1500X Ryzen, which is overclockable. You can just overclock it to 4.0 Ghz if you so desire.
