Fried motherboard so I'm going to use this as an opportunity to upgrade/rebuild. Built pc from here about 5 years ago so ready for upgrade anyway. Also already bought a power supply since I thought that was the issue originally.

More specific use (what games, what programs): ARPG gaming, things like POE/d3 on high. But would like to buy a system that can handle more intensive games in the future

Maybe scrap the hdd if POH is >10000-15000
Mine usually start racking up Uncorrectable Sectors at 30000

this, not worth buying new with a 3rd gen cpu atm.

Reuse anything but the GPU.
Buy a new Z77 motherboard and a GPU in a comfortable price range. Possible GTX 1070-1080ti all after what you are willing to spend and what you wanna play.
