Buddy is looking to build a new computer first one in about 10 years.
Looking for advice as to what parts to go with.

Major purposes are going to be Fruity loop/music editing software and 4k video editing as well, wants to be able to game on it too.

No specific budget was given, I assume he wants to keep it around the $1200 mark total before the monitor is added, he already ordered the Thermaltake Core v71 case.

He's going to be buying in pieces, tomorrow he's ordering the GPU

Only needing suggestions on internal hardware and monitor.

you post here enough that one would assume you could manage this.

ryzen chip + 32gb ram those are the two main things,
as for screen you want an IPS display.

Wow, those Ryzen chips have very impressive benchmarks for the price!

And Brandon, 1200? Get him an EVGA 1080ti for like $639, the uh AMD Ryzen 5 1600X should be good enough imo and they're only $239.

Here's supermans build - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/p3mfZ8
Here's a more realistic idea of what buddy should get - https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VGbsQV

The extra cores will help a lot for the editing plus you can overclock it without issue.
If buddy is gaming at 1440p and wants 144hz or ultra settings on all games then he will want a better gpu but then the editing aspect gets hit.
Notice the ability to OC with my build? Notice the Larger storage drives? The modular PSU? The Better mobo? Faster ram with dual channel?

Suggesting a 1080ti without knowing the monitor is fucking dumb.
Your whole rig takes massive losses for extra frames that may not be even utilized.
1070 will max literally every game at 1080p, can handle 1440p also on almost all games on ultra at 60fps.

Oh I could easily do it man but I like opinions and with technology it's always easy to miss stuff so having debates and different opinions is nice. Especially since I don't know much about the demands of fruity loops and music editing in general

Probably going with 4K ips monitor.

Ryzen over intel? Or do you just mean for the price?

The music editing is not demanding tbh, the 4k video editing on the other hand gets demanding as fuck.
But I feel ya on the opinion part just do us all a a favor and ignore superman on this one.
I mean unless you want your shit to be sub par in every aspect aside from having a beast gpu.

Editing utilizes all Additional cores and threads.
Games only use 4 so if it was strictly gaming then intel.

However games may change soon to use more, then intel is basically shit.

If it's primary use is "online" 4k video editing, he needs something like this... preferably more hdd space too, and hdd's need to be in raid

If it's "offline" 4k video editing, then King Arthur is more accurate save for you'll want a 7200rpm hdd.

Save for what? theres tons of headroom in my build.
I doubt he needs 32 gb of ram so I made sure it could be added along with additional storage.
You aimed too high on the gpu and sacrificed everything else essentially with your statement.

Honestly, if it's "offline" 4k video editing, any decent gaming rig will work with 16gb of ram.
