Okay so my ABS module went bad (broken soldered joints) yet my innova 3040 scanner still communicated with it.

So I put in a junker ABS module because these are obsolete for my car. So the one I put in same part # all wire solder joint seemed intact. But my scanner won't communicate with it it just says error.

I don't have an abs light and my fuses are fine. I need to have a functioning abs module because the car gets its speed from the module.

My question is if an ABS scanner can't communicate and gets nothing but errors is it a dead module?

Usually yes. It could be some wiring issues when you put it in though as well.

You should be able to hook it up to constant 12v power and spin each tire to test each wire to make sure it is good though. I know I can on the Chrysler modules. Not sure what you are working with.

could the module need programmed to the specific vehicle or are they plug and play?

Should be plug and play. Chrysler uses the same box for 99% of it's fleet. I would assume most others do the same

I'm stumped my abs module most defiantly works because I drove it unplugged and the car would not shift. Im just curious why im getting a comm error.
