People are acting as if the DPRK killed him, when they've been taking care of his health for over a year. Even our physicians agree that there are no signs of abuse whatsoever, and looking what other former American prisoners in the DPRK have said, foreign criminals are never mistreated.

This guy was really stupid to do what he did. I'm sorry he died, but he commited a serious offense despite the being warned by the chinese travel company.

I do have to say though that I wish the DPRK had just deported him. I understand that he broke the law and disrespected the country, but he was young and stupid, and the country has let other people off the hook in the past. He probably said or did something that made things worse. The other tourists that travelled with him said that they saw him and his friends drinking, and that he didn't showup in the airport to go back home beccause he was hungover and wanted to sleep (that's when the police went to pick him up and found the stolen poster). Obviously he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Seoul is in direct artillery range from the dmz isn't it?

If so theres no scenario where seoul is safe.

The DPRK will never nuke its own people. Even if they are living in the south, they are still Korean, and many of them are family members of people living in the north.

Japan should be a bit more worried though. However the DPRK will not attack them unless they get involved in a military offensive against them.

There even a cause of death yet?

Curious about this autopsy.

Yeah, the guy gets returned as a vegetable with obvious signs of oxygen deprivation and that's not a sign of abuse.

You should know by now that I'm not. Last year a user here called Peschye accused me of being a "character troll" and some other guy's multi (can't remember the name), but we engaged in a long conversation in which I proved my sincere interest in Juche Socialism and my knowledge of the DPRK's culture, leading him to finally concede that I was not a troll.

Just because I support a political philosophy that isn't mainstream, it doesn't mean that I'm a troll. I've been a Juche Socialist since I started researching about the DPRK and its philosophy at age 15. I also learnt a lot of stuff from my friends at the KFA as well as my mother.

I don't need to create some alternative character in a gaming forum to feel better about myself. I sincerely believe in Juche, and it has been a very important part of my life for many years now.

He was repeatedly beaten to unconsciousness. Likely torture during interrogation for anti-government connections.

Its unsure whether or not this is common practice in North Korea.

Our own physicians have confirmed there are no signs of abuse...
