Would using a 32" lcd tv for a desktop computer be overkill?

That's not how what works?

Why does it matter if it is cheap looking? I'm so confused because you're not staying on topic.

TV's don't display fine things like ...text, as well as a monitor does.

As for size, just get w/e size you need. The vid card really determines the max. resolution for the monitor

32inch would be 1080
so bad ppi for one
60hz
slow response time
bad picture quality most likely

It is too big when you cannot fit it into your home.
Otherwise, if it fits...

but no it would be fine.
I would not put much weight into what others are saying. It's true, but they are splitting hairs.
I do not think you will personally have complaints unless your TV is of some exceptionally low quality.

I also use a TV included with my monitors and I do not discriminate between them.
