My PS4 for over a year had occasional auto eject issues where it would eject the disk mid play.
Just starting yesterday, it won't even accept disks anymore. I'm looking up online how to fix it, but there's not much on the issue other than to just send it in. Anyone have ideas?

Warranty-wise, it's been two and a half years since I bought the PS4, so it's not within the one year warranty. Does anyone know how much it may cost to send it in for the disk drive issue?
Would opening up the PS4 not matter anymore since I'm outside the first year warranty?

Lol. well I was dumb and got arrested last year... sooooooo... extra money is going towards that mistake. If I can fix it and not spend hundreds on a new one, I'd prefer that.

How comfortable are you with electronics? I've personally built stuff like this before and hated it. So if something was wrong I would send it in to get fixed even though I probably know how to fix it.

That sucks
my xbox360 did this
It would it cost about 100 to 150 to fix from Sony
If u can find someone to do it cheaper do it or buy a new one

What i did when my 360 did this, I bought a digital copies of the games so I didn't have to worry about the disc ejecting out

The bluray on my ps3 died once. Everything else worked, but not the bluray. This was 2012 I believe, and I was out of the warranty. I called SONY, and they said that I could send it in for repair. Cost 100 bucks.. but they fixed it. Might try calling them and asking how much it might cost, or if they'd do it.

Few years ago I built my PC with my roommate. Neither of us knew what we were doing at the time, just followed instructions.
That's my main question, is how much would it cost to repair it? If it's 100-150, then that sounds about what it cost to repair my xbox360 back in the day when it got red rings outside of warranty. However, if I were to open up the PS4 and attempt this and potentially damage it more, would the cost be the same to fix it, since I'm outside of warranty anyways?

I'm going to try that first before tackling it. But I feel like you guys are right with it costing me 100-150. If the issue is what is shown in the above video, I think I may be able to avoid that.

The problem is if you have tampered with it, out of warranty or not, the OEM will usually immediately stop the repair and send it back the second they notice. They don't want deal with potential 3rd party issues coming back on them so they won't even touch it.

Edit: basically the second you open it up you are losing all help you could recieve from Sony at any point, now or in the future.
