While I'm still subbed myself my view is that games are more accessible than ever and MMORPGS are a much bigger time sink than a lot of other options making them not as attractive to many pepole that get into casual gaming. Just my 2 cents.
I partially agree. I do agree that people are favoring more accessible games that give a quick fix. However, I don't think people are spending less time on the whole playing games, so I don't think it's the time sink nature of MMORPGs that are driving people away. WoW has been around since what... 2004? I think people are likely spending far more time on electronic devices nowadays than they were in 2004, so why aren't they playing games that require more time investment? It may be that a game like WoW is just not mobile at all. You have to be sitting still at a computer (a halfway decent one at that), it probably has to be a desktop because WoW on most laptops is a completely neutered experience, and you can't multitask that well if you're playing WoW. People these days are ADHD as fk and want to be able to be connected on the move and jump between tasks on their devices. Gamers of the future are not sitting at a desk on a desktop PC, they're zombies staring at their phones and walking into street signs.
