Got my M1 ^_^ and starting to learn how to ride, deciding what I should buy as my first bike (leaning towards Kawasaki) I don't like Harley's prefer the sport type.

For those that do ride, currently 25 with a clean driving record, wondering if insurance will still hit me hard even though im squeaky clean :bouncy:

it will greatly depend on the kind of bike. When i bought a brand new wr250r with $50k medical on insurance, it was only 500$ a year.

if you have one near you take a motorcycle safety course the major insurance companies will give you a pretty decent discount on your rates if you have it.

Bikes are relatively cheap when it comes to car insurance especially where I live in Washington... a CBR 600 By Honda would not be a bad choice neither would anything Ducati. I would avoid Harley and anything ninja just because of bad reputation. Maybe even an r6 my friend just picked one up this is his third bike he seems to really like that thing. If you want something you can customize aim a little bigger like an r1 or a gsxr. I don't think you would regret it I had a couple 600s and ever since I got used bikes I've always wanted something bigger every time I get on one.

Honda CBR600 was a great started bike for me.
Easy to handle, work on and cheap to repair on scuffing.
It is an ankle burner for chicks though.

If you ever get a chance, try out ducati. They are great dd

Not sure where you live, but you said m1 which makes me think Ontario.

In Ontario I'm 25, have an r6 Yamaha with a squeeky clean record, never sped or any accidents, and when I had my m1, it cost me $410 a MONTH quoted to start, in Toronto. Most companies wouldn't even insure me period. It's going to be expensive since it's also gone up in the last year.

Got my motorcycle L's around a month ago, 24 years old and pay $42/month for full cover + $1000 equipment (helmet, gloves, etc).

Been loving it so far, haven't gone on trip further than around 100ks yet, slowly venturing out.
