I was messing around in Path of Building and saw that using a Lycosidae shield with Necromantic Aegis made a huge increase in SRS damage.

The thing is, whenever I look at a SRS guide, I see people running only +3 staff or some similar combo. This turns out to be less damage than having 100% hit chance on the minions. Am I plugging things in incorrectly, or what's the deal?

Base stats greatly incresing(almost 2x), thats the reason.
ofcourse ,you needt o use empower gem too.

i found on second document. The first page is more correctly.
I did srs build many time. But now playing as golemancer. try it. u will love i did all content with golems.(uber atziri-shaper or etc.)

So I imported somebody's profile from forums and changed their staff to +2 fire +1gems, getting to 28 SRS.

All gems 21/20 and level 4 empower... running SRS, Melee Phys, Added Fire, Multistrike, Minion Damage, Empower
This shows dps as 80678.7

Then adding a few points to get to Necromantic Aegis and changing to Severed in Sleep + Lycosidae:
Gems = SRS, Elemental Focus, Melee Phys, Added Fire, Multistrike, Minion Damage
This shows dps as 91451.0 and adding poison takes it up to 106675.6.

Did your Math happen with 1 SrS or 20 SrS?
I prefer +3 Staff for not wasting Points in Tree for Necromantic Aegis. Never had an feeling that i do to less Dam besides Spawnphase at ShaperFight and no Vaal Haste up!-)

The only downside I see is the lower hp on the SRS

you must add ele focus gem. empower>minion dmg>ele focus. best of 3 for srs now.
also minion dmg and added fire dmg good too.
aaaand if u have anger+hatred+haste your srs will be.... awesome

Ok, I will try out different gem combo and see what I get.

Ok +3 Staff:
SRS - Empower level 4 - Ele Focus - Minion Damage - Melee Phys - Multistrike = 83407.4
SRS - Empower level 4 - Ele Focus - Minion Damage - Added Fire - Multistrike = 75278.1
SRS - Empower level 4 - Ele Focus - Minion Damage - Melee Phys - Added Fire = 82880.5

So the first gem combination beats the gem combination I tested earlier (on +3 staff), but it is still a bit lower than the shield set-up.
