Intel really trying hard to get back into the core count game again after AMD announced their threadripper 16core beast. Here comes the i9-7980XE 18cores!

Probably gonna be confusing with the x299 motherboard series with all these different PCI-E lanes configuration etc.

I'm glad Intel is finally rolling out the cores, this is good for everybody, I assume now we'll see better optimized games/software to utilize those extra cores!

I thought they'd drop ht-less chips all together, lmao the jewing never dies though I suppose, even when the technology behind ht is older than most of the people who saw this image.

It's good for AMD though that they can't get over their israeli attempts to segment the market. However, that's not to say Intel haven't changed course a little in that regard... everything being on one socket is a big deal if this is accurate & complete information. That's an interesting move from Intel.

I presume there will be no motherboards with 2 DIMM slots if this is true? If all motherboards are expected to be able to support a quad-channel chip. Or maybe there just be massive price gaps in that regard to make up for the lack of an enthusiast socket and ensure people can't run a good chip on a cheap motherboard effectively.
