There was a promo at a local game store that added an extra 25% credit to trade-ins.
Decided to part ways with my lot of SNES mario games (Super Mario World, Mario All-stars, and Super Mario Kart)
I love SNES games, but so many of them are overpriced. I got this Mario lot for $8 and they haven't left my shelf since I picked them up.
Between virtual console and re-releases there are so many alternatives to play these titles. Not to mention I've played through these games multiple times over the years lol

I impulsively traded them in to pick up some new stuff #no regrets.

Here is what I picked up:

Lost in Shadow for Nintendo Wii
Sin and Punishment Star Successory for Nintendo Wii

Lost in Shadow is a really cool platformer. Your shadow has been cut off from the hero (your shadow is your soul apparently?) and you have to make your way up a tower in hopes of reconnecting with the hero.
Really creative spin on the traditional platforming game. You interact with the fore-ground to change the shadows in the background to make your way through the game.

Not a common title but definitely worth checking out.

Sin and Punishment is probably the best game on the Wii. It uses the motion controls so well! It's an on-rail shooter where you can dodge projectiles while using the Wiimote to shoot enemies. Fast paced action, fun game play.
Really, really love this game but never owned it. It is the sequel to an N64 game that never made its wy state-side. It was on the Wii virtual console though which has now gone offline.. I hope you got the chance to play it :)

Tactics Ogre the Knight of Lodis for Gameboy Advance
Kirby: the Amazing Mirror for Gameboy Advance

Loved Tactics Ogre on PS1; GBA version is more of the same. Tactical RPG, manipulate your troops across a map in a similar way to Final Fantasy Tactics or the Fire Emblem series. Perfect for the GBA platform.

I'm kind of meh on Kirby: The Amazing Mirror. Loved Kirby games as a kid (especially Kirby's Dreamland on Gameboy). These games are just a little too easy and get boring for me.
It was fun to play through for a couple hours but I doubt I will get all the way through.

Ghost Squad for Nintendo Wii (Factory Sealed)

Really great and underrated arcade shooter for the Wii. Man, I can't say enough about how the Wii is a great option to play old shooters without a CRTV.
I actually already own this game.. and from what I can tell it still goes for a decent price.

Got it at Half Priced Books for $4.

My roommate found this in his parent's attick:

Atari 800XL

It still works!! Look at that power supply.. it puts the Xbox 360 to shame lol
This is a little too old for me, but I find vintage computing just as fascinating as retro games (even though I don't know much about it).

He found a few games as well:

I really got a kick out of running basic on this old piece of junk. The games have not aged well at all.. but it was really interesting to play around with.
It's not *mine*, but it is until my roommate's dad needs it back lol

Definitely a fun novelty item, but can't recommend spending your money on this thing. Just a cool piece of history :)

Soul Caliber for Sega Dreamcast

Found this at Goodwill for $2.

I have been going to Goodwill at least once a week for the last year and this is only the second Dreamcast game I've seen.
I already have this game.. and unfortunately the hinges are broken on the jewel case so the cover won't stay on.. <_<
But still, a pretty cool find!

There was a Dreamcast Web Browser for sale too but I didn't buy it lol

Went to my first garage sale of the year today!
I didn't really intend to, I was running some errands this morning and saw a sale and stopped by.

Nothing spectacular, just some odds and ends of some cool stuff:

Doom 64 for Nintendo 64
Crash Bandicoot for Playstation 1 (disc only)

Both are in kind of rough shape, but too cheap to pass up.

I'll probably sell both of these, or try and swap them for something.
I don't have a N64 and I don't like having loose disc games..

Dragonquest VIII for Playstation 2 (No game -_- )

This was pretty disappointing. It's totally complete with the FF12 demo and all, just no game.
And a mad catz PS2 memory card was in the case. I couldn't pass it up..

I've actually never played a Dragonquest game.
From what I know, they are pretty standard JRPG affair but with artwork designed by Akira Toriyama (Dragonball Z guy).
Really popular in Japan, not as much in the US.

As much as I enjoy JRPGs, I don't really watch anime.. and I have never really felt motivated to pick one of these games up.
I probably should; I'm sure I would enjoy it. I think there was even a pretty cool online one for the DS?

Paid $2 for the garage sale lot.

Yay an update

This post will be a little bit more active now that it's summer time :)

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude for the Playstation 2 (Disc only)

A series continuation from the popular PC adventure game of the 90's
But unlike the past games, this is a collection of mini games starring Larry's nephew.
You are on a college campus, and the goal of all the mini games are to pick up girls.

It's supposed to be a funny game, but the target audience feels like a 13-16 male.
The hyper-sexualized characters and perverted humor are just a gimmick to cover up the average game that lurks underneath.

Saw it at Half Priced Books for $0.50. Kind of a rare game, but not really a valuable one.
Maybe I can make $5 off it? lol

Went to a local community sale today. I found a few good things:

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition for Nintendo Wii

I have never played a RE game, but now this is the second I own for Wii.
I have tried old survival horror games (Dino Crisis, Carrier) but the tank controls are a deal breaker for me.

I've heard RE 4 is a good one to start with because it is the first one in the series to use more modern controls for a 3D environment.
This game was also on Gamecube. This version is a faithful port with a few added feature (things like visual settings) and integrates the Wii mote controls.

I'm going to hang on to this game and give it a go :)

Got it for $1

Super Mario Galaxy Nintendo Selects Edition for Nintendo Wii

Is it missing the manual? I don't own any selects version of Wii games.

This is a great Mario game. I have many fond memories.
I already own it but at $0.50 it was too cheap to pass up.

More community sale finds:

Mega Man X Collection for Playstation 2

Classic Capcom.
This version includes the first 6 Mega Man X games, and a bonus racing game -Mega Man Battle & Chase racing.

A nice little group of games. I am a fan of collection anthology games :)
This was $1.

Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness for Nintendo Gamecube

Unfortunately, no manual.

I don't really know much about this game. I am not really a fan of pokemon games other than first gen Gameboy ones..
But pokemon shit is always worth money, especially on older platforms.

I have been trying to build up my Gamecube library but I don't know if I will keep this one.
I try to only keep games I am actually interested in playing. I will try it out but probably sell it.

Mario Party 6 for Nintendo Gamecube

Probably the best find of the day. Marioparty is better than a board game.
I have a couple of these games but not this one.
Every once in a while I will get a group of friends together to play and this will be a fun one to try out!

Got the 2 Gamecube games for $4.
Nice little haul from the community sale. Nothing too crazy, but probably $100 worth of games for $7.
But even better, I found some things I actually want to keep :)

The Granstream Saga for Playstation 1

Traded in Doom 64 and the loose copy of Crash Bandicoot for this.
Didn't know much about it when I bought it, just saw it at a local game store.

It's a hack and slash RPG with full polygonal characters and animated cut-scenes
From reviews I've read, this game was criticized for it's graphical limitations and it's relatively short game play.

I think the polygonal graphics have some charm to it.
I guess this game came out pretty shortly after FF7, so in that context it does leave something to be desired.
I also don't mind shorter RPGs, if a game drags on for more than 35 hours I sometimes get bored and finishing the game can seem like a chore.

Haven't played more than 15 minutes of this game, but I look forward to playing more :)

Valis for the Sega Gensis

I've wanted to play this game for a long time.

Saw it at a local game store for $20.
Really a good deal, probably because of that horrible sticker on it.

It's a side scrolling platformer with some light RPG elements.
Valis is usually regarded as one of the best series on the genesis.
The graphics look great, the music is amazing, but that's about all I enjoyed..

The controls are horrible, your spell upgrades are useless, and becomes too easy once you gain enough sword power ups.
Not to mention the game can be completed in about an hour.

I don't know. It is a fun game but hyped a little too much.
It has a really great aesthetic, but poor execution.
I would save your money and not buy a physical copy.

A nice complete set sells for ~$60-70.. I'll probably try and sell this one.
I'm happy to finally play it, but I won't revisit it.
I am also a snob about having complete Gensis games haha

Picked up a Playstation 3 bundle at a garage sale today

I've been keeping an eye out for a fair deal on a PS3 for a while.
I see them quite frequently, but the price is usually too steep for me.

My psx struggles to play some of the more graphically demanding games.
Cut scenes from games like FF8 stall and it can get frustrating.

I wish this model was PS2 compatible, but oh well.
I'm happy to have my PS1 RPGs run smoother and play out in HMDI :)

It came with a couple games too:

NBA 2k14
Grand Theft Auto V

Meh, will probably sell GTAV and send 2K14 off to goodwill lol

Paid $60 for the lot. Pretty good deal!

Tell me some good PS3 games. I've never owned one.
