This is amazing, I’ve picked up GameCube games here and there over the past few years intending on flipping it all at some point but can’t bring myself to do it!

I don't blame you for having a hard time flipping them lol
GameCube has a ton of great titles!
I started buying and selling stuff without much interest in the console.
But it became clear that it was my favorite platform to collect for!

It's people like you who looked at a stupid 11 year old me upset that we got a super nintendo with super mario world instead of sega with sonic, who asked the right questions and recommended final fantasy as my first game on my brand new playstation (the original ps1).

Rock on.

Thanks!

Although I don't think there is a wrong choice between Mario World, Sonic, or Final Fantasy haha :)

New haul from Half Priced Books.

I know I have mentioned this a few times..
But the HPB in my town is an 'outlet'.
Basically, they get overstock from other regional locations.
That generally means they have great deals.
But their selection is often pretty slim.

I have managed to scoop up some great deals there.
But they very rarely have anything GameCube.
Well, that changed the other day when I lucked into a great haul!
And for a great price :)

Here is what I picked up:

Game on the left are complete, games on right are missing manual

Mostly common titles, but also some great stuff here!
Many of these I didn't already have.
But they were selling them for $2 each!!
Can't beat that price really.

Godzilla is a fun, 4 player arena brawler.
I already have a copy.
But the game carries some value (~$30 complete)

Lego Star Wars is not too valuable..
But a game I have had my eye out!
I am not a huge star wars fan.
But I have a fondness for the original trilogy.

I have never played any of the Lego games.
But I listened to a podcast about them and it got me interested.
They are children's games, which means they are very easy.
But they add a lot of humor and charm to licensed series.
I think it will be a nice casual experience.
Looking forward to finally checking it out.

I'm also excited to get a copy of Billy and Mandy.
I liked the show as a kid.
But the game is supposed to be pretty good regardless.
It is a battle arena that reminds me a lot of Power Stone.
I mean, it's not going to be as good as the Capcom classic.
But it does have a (supposedly) interesting story mode.
Happy to have it! :)

I've also been told Haunted Mansion is a bit of a hidden gem.
Never saw the movie..
But it is supposed to be a spooky puzzle game.
It looks pretty creepy for a Disney game too!

I got a couple more things:

Super Monkey Ball in a Super Monkey Ball 2 case (Greatest Hits) - GameCube

I actually didn't notice this was the wrong game until I got home lol
I already had SMB 2 so I picked it up to flip it..
The original Super Monkey Ball is actually a little bit more valuable.
But it is going to be hard to sell the disc and case separately.
At $2, it is still a great deal.

Lost Kingdoms (Disc Only) - GameCube

An interesting JRPG for the console.
Don't have this game..
Don't know if I will flip it or try to get a case for it.

I am pretty sure it is a card based RPG.
There were a lot of card based RPGs on the GameCube..
What the hell is up with that?
Not my favorite mechanic, but I really enjoyed Baten Kaitos.
If it is anything like that, it should be good!

Got this haul for $32!
Maybe not my best haul from a quality stand point..
But one of my better bulk buys from a retail store :)

Money Spent: $2947
Total Sales: $2941
Profit: -$6

New Pickup!

Geist - GameCube

This is a game that has been on my radar for a while.

It's an FPS that received mediocre reviews back in the day..
Admittedly, I'm not a huge FPS fan.
But there are some unique things about this game that intrigues me!

First, it is a Nintendo published FPS.
Of course, I really like Nintendo games.
(Although Sega is my true love <3 ).
But Nintendo games have a knack for trying something different.
Geist is a good example of this.

Yes, Geist in many ways is a typical FPS.
But it adds an interesting soul stealing mechanic.
Essentially, this allows you to manipulate people/objects.
I guess this mechanic was criticized back in the day..
It 'slowed down combat'
There are enough fast pace FPS out there, imo.
I'm interested to see how this mechanic adds Zelda-like puzzles to the genre!

Geist is also one of the few Nintendo published works to receive an M rating.
I know Eternal Darkness is another one.. I'm sure there are maybe a couple others.
Devil's Third??
Not that a rating determines a game's quality.
But it makes the game somewhat unique!

I picked this up at my local game store for $20.
Not exactly a thrift price, but a good deal.
About half of its going rate online.
Didn't really expect to pick it up.
But it was a complete and clean copy for a reasonable deal.

I try to mix up genres of games I play to keep things interesting.
Haven't played an FPS in quite a while.
It's also nice that they tend to be a little short.
I think I will have fun with this one :)

Picked up a couple new things:

Medabots Infinity - GameCube

This was kind of a blind buy for me.
I had heard of this game and know it is fairly uncommon.
But I don't know anything about the Medabots franchise..
.. or anything about their games.

I'm kind of surprised that Medabots was never on my radar.
Yes, I am not much of an anime fan.
But I definitely watched a lot of dubbed US tv anime in the mid 2000s.
Medabots seems like something that I would have been into.
From what I can tell, it's like a Gundam/Pokemon mashup.

Regardless, I found this at my local game store for $20.
Not exactly 'cheap', but a great deal.
I've played it a bit and I want to like it..
But I kind of don't lol

There are a lot of good ideas here.
It seems to have a bit of depth.
Complete missions, get robot parts, rinse and repeat.
The layout and style are nice too.
It almost reminds me of Phantasy Star Online... almost anyway.
But it just isn't executed well.
The controls are clunky and its hard to aim.
It's also surprisingly tough for a game marketed to kids.
Oh well, I'm happy to cross it off the GameCube list lol

Slave Zero - Dreamcast
Micro Machines V3 - Playstation 1
Wii component cable

Just a couple of odds and ends here.

Slave Zero is a third person shooter that can only be described as average.
For its time, neat. But it hasn't aged well.
To be fair, FPS or TPS games on Dreamcast just suffer from the single analog stick.
But this was a PC game that was ported and the load times are insufferable.
It's not a bad game...just not great.

I saw it at half priced books and decided to snag it.
I don't see Dreamcast games out and about often.
Especially titles I don't have that are cheap.
Probably won't get a ton of play time out of it..
But I'm still happy to have it :)

Micro Machines V3 is a top down racer.
Very reminiscent of RC pro-am.
It's pretty respectable at what it does.
Looks great for a PS1 game.
Has interesting track designs.
And supports up to 8 players, pretty uncommon for a PS1 game!

I really enjoy racing games, especially arcade ones.
But I struggle with top down ones :(
I understand why people like that style, but it's just not for me.
Picked this game up to flip it.
Not expecting much, but I think I can squeeze ~$10 out of.

Got those last three items for $10!

Money Spent: $2997
Total Sales: $2941
Profit: -$56

I'm going to a conference next week then will travel for the holidays.
Probably won't have another update until after then.

See ya'll in the new year :santa:

Back from my holiday travels!
Have a couple new pickups to share:

10 Nintendo GameCube Games

This is probably the most unusual pickups I've made.
I actually got these in a trade!

My brother's friend has been a collector longer than anyone I know.
He is mostly into Super Nintendo stuff but also collects anime and manga things.
He has pestered my brother to give him some old DBZ trading cards we had as a kid.
I asked if he had any old GameCube stuff he didn't want anymore..
and we settled on this trade!

About ~150 DBZ cards for these games lol

Nothing too valuable here.
But I didn't have any of them!
I am particularly looking forward to FFCC :)

Really, I'm just happy to add to the collection without spending money haha

Didn't do much thrifting while I was in my hometown.
But I did stop by a random pawnshop and found one thing:

Metroid Other M - Wii

I know this game only by reputation.
It was a return to old form for Metroid after the Prime trilogy.
But people did not like the direction of this game.
It was critiqued for being too easy and having too much story development.

I think the game looks pretty neat.
It is a great looking Wii game.
And I like the 2.5D style!

Probably won't get to this for a while tbh.
But it was $2 so decided to pick it up.
Not actively collecting Wii games..
But I'll grab any first party game that I find for cheap!

Been having some luck finding GameCube games out in the wild.
Went to a pawn shop today while running errands..
They had a small stack of GameCube games for $3 each!

Here is what I got:

Super Monkey Ball 1 and Super Monkey Ball 2 - GameCube

These game must have sold a ton because I find them a lot lol
But for some reason, I can never find a black label SMB1 :(

These are always nice to find and an easy sale.
But unfortunately these are in pretty rough shape.
They have a lot of surface scratches.. but I think they will play.
The case art is also all warped and wonkey.

Might need to resurface them?
Might combine 2 with the case I picked up a month ago?
Might just sell at a discount in their crap condition?

I'm gonna take a bit of a hit regardless.
But there is still money here at $3 each :)

Mario Party 7 in a Donkey Konga Case

For $3, I was happy with Donkey Konga.
But MP7 is a much better find lol
It's the least valuable of the MP games on GameCube.
But still ~$40 loose.

I think it is generally worth checking game cases when thrifting.
Sometimes i’ll find a better game in a junk shovel ware case.
It's rare so I don't waste too much time.
But if it is a valuable platform or I'm having bad luck, I'll check some cases.
What do I have to lose? haha :)

I'm happy to find this.. but I'm not sure what to do with it.
There are 4 MP games on GameCube and I would like to own them all..
But I don't want to spend a ton on them.
I mean, I hardly play the ones I have (MP4 & 6).
Not to mention I have 8 on Wii.
How many copies of MP does one need?

I might hang on to it to try and get a case?
It would be nice to add it to my collection for cheap.
But buying replacement cases is kind of soul crushing..
It is always more money than I want to spend.

I'm also hanging on to Lost Kingdoms hoping to do the same.
Eh, I don't know.
I have been wanting to pickup more premium GameCube titles.
Maybe I'll just sell all my loose discs to pick up something new?
Stay tuned :)

Nice find with Mario Party.

Always check cases!
Friend of mine bought WipeOut 3 for PS2 back in the day in a pawn shop.
So we back home exited to play we found out it was WipeOut 2097 for PS1.

If you think it's worth to keep and add to the collection, do try to find a case and manul.
Who knows you'll find it
