Hit a bit of a drought.
Still checking out goodwill and my other thrift spots regularly..
Just not coming across anything interesting.

I did pick up a small Dreamcast lot online though:

Fighting Force 2 - Dreamcast
Flag to Flag - Dreamcast

A couple decent games.
Fighting Force 2 was also released on the PS1.
Like most cross-platforms games of that era, the DC one is definitely superior.
However, it is just a mediocre beat-em up game.

Sadly, I am not a huge fan of the genre.
I'm not too optimistic I will enjoy one that is especially not memorable.
But who knows.
It is a somewhat notable DC game so I will definitely give it a shot!

Flag to Flag is a serviceable racer.
Nothing ground breaking or anything.
I like racing games but kind of have too many in DC library.
I definitely prefer the rally car and/or arcade racers.
But I don't have many in the Indy car/F1 genre.

It's pretty affordable and common.
But I don't have it so I'm happy to pick it up :)

Charge N Blast - Dreamcast

This is the game that grabbed my attention with this lot.
This game is quite strange lol
Almost reminds me of Dynamite Cop.
Not so much in play style..
But you never know what weird thing will come at you next.
It is a Sega Arcade game to the core.

The controls are so weird and feel outdated.
But after 30 minutes or so you get the hang of things.
It's a high score attack that feels like a straight arcade port.
I don't know if it actually is or not though.

What I do know is that it is a pretty uncommon game.
It was released right at the end of the DC lifecycle.
I think it sold less than 10k copies.
However, it is not especially valuable.
But it is actually easier to find a sealed copy than a used one.
Someone must of bought some old warehouse stock or something.

Either way, it is a unique experience on the platform.
I like having arcade style games that I can kill 15 minutes with!

Test Drive Le Mans - Dreamcast
Sega Bass Fishing (Disc Only) - Dreamcast

A couple little bonus games of the lot.
I already own both so I can recoup a little money.
Not much though lol

Test Drive Le Mans is a great game!
Really difficult though.

Got this lot for $53

Not really a great deal to be honest.
But great deals are hard to come by these days.
It is a little steep for a set of games I wasn't actively looking for.
But ~$10 a piece for DC games is not too bad.
Always happy to grow the DC library!

It's been a slow couple weeks on the collecting front.

This has been a busy summer with my graduate studies.
I haven't really been putting in the time thrifting as I have in the past.
Still checking Goodwill every now and then.
But haven't had enough time to hit up as many garage sales as I would like -_-

Finally found a couple things worth scooping up on my last Goodwill run:

Nintendo Wii Component Cable

Nothing crazy here.
Just the generic aftermarket component cables.
The Nintendo branded ones carry a bit of value.
But this generic one I picked up is for my personal use.
My component cables died and I have been using composite to play Wii/GameCube.
I know, ~shocking~ :o !

Happy to have some component cables again.
Makes those Wii/GameCube games look crisp B)

SoulBlade - Playstation 1

First decent game I've found in sooo long.
I haven't even seen generic Wii shovelware at Goodwill.
A lot of Goodwills have started sending video games to their online auction service.
I was a little worried that the days of good finds were gone.
It is really refreshing to find a little gem there.
It is a nice motivation boost to continue the hunt lol

Soulblade is a neat game.
The pre-cursor to the Soul Caliber series.
I like fighting games alright but it is definitely not my go-to genre.
Soul Caliber is much better than this game..
But it is fun to check it out to see where the series began.

I am happy it is black label too.
The detail is so much better on the disc art than the generic greatest hits release.
A cool find, but likely on the resale list.

Got both of these for $3.
Fine by me!
~Here is to hoping for more good finds

Just read through 32 pages and four years of your journey. I'm not only entertained, but impressed you've kept it up in the same format. Thank you.

I’m surprised too to keep this going as long as I have. My interests have waxed and waned but it has been great to keep this little blog to look back on. It has also helped me to not overspend lol

Thanks for the kind words, I’ll keep posting as long as I keep thrifting :)

Had some time off today so decided to hit up the flea market.
Hadn't been in a couple months!

Here is what I found:

Spider-Man - GameCube

Always excited to see some GameCube games!
Even if it is just common stuff like Spider-man.
At least its not a Madden game?

Technically, I already have this game.
But for whatever reason, my copy doesn't work.
It's kind of strange; my original copy's disc looks prisitine.
But I was testing some games I hadn't touched in years and it wouldn't read.
Welp, now I have a working copy again!

Tony Hawk's Proskater 4 - GameCube

Yet another game I already own..
But I didn't have the manual!

Unfortunately, the disc is scratched to shit.
I tested it and it won't read at all -_-

Oh well.
I feel like I paid $2 for a manual and spare GameCube case.
Always nice to have some spares!

Tom and Jerry War of the Whiskers - GameCube

Definitely the best find!
Didn't know anything about this game..
but I don't have this one!

The gameplay is nothing like I expected.
It's 4-player arena fighter.
Kind of like a knockoff (and less fun) version of Power Stone.

It's not the most engaging fighter.
But to be fair, I only messed around it for it for like 30 minutes.
I'm kind of surprised to see it sells for like ~$35.
I am happy to only pay a fraction of that price lol
But they don't make many 4 player couch co-op games like this.
I could see the value in playing something different with a group of friends.

Got these games for $6.
Not necessarily things I've been looking for..
But it is always a good day to find new GameCube games :)

Small pickup from Half Priced Books:

Streak Hoverboard Racing - Playstation 1

Picked up this game on a whim.
Never heard of it and it doesn't seem to be a well known.
There isn't even a proper Youtube review of it lol

But something about it caught my eye.
I love the Tony Hawk series.
I enjoy racing games.
Maybe this is a sleeper hit combination of the two genres??

Well... not quite.
it's just okay :)
Not bad, but not particularly great.
The controls are fine but the turns feel bad.
Like driving a large boat or something.
There are interesting maps and 'tricks'.
But straight racing through is the most efficient way to win.

It has like zero value lol
But overall, it is not a bad budget title.
I'm not sure I would recommend it.
Overall, it is pretty mediocre and shallow in content.
But it is definitely a decent game for a cheap price!

Ratchet & Clank Going Commando - Playstation 2

Didn't they just remaster this game?

Always nice to see a black label R&C game.
They aren't particularly valuable..
But they are easy to flip.
Especially when they are complete!

Still haven't played any of the games in the series..
It's a bit of a shame as I hear they are great.
But I don't have much interest in building a PS2 library.
There are still so many games I own that I haven't played.
I picked it up to resell it.
Can't keep it all haha 🤷‍♂️

Spent $6 on these two games

I'm debating if I want to play it through wii, or see if i can borrow a crt and play it through GC for some native resolution. In any case, I'm envious of your collection....tons of good finds and a pretty fun, chill hobby. Seems you started collecting before the coof, so your collection is probably worth 5 times what you paid for it.

I play all my GameCube games on the Wii.
I see the appeal of tracking down a CRT and playing games on native resolution.
But I think a Wii with component cables displays GameCube games pretty well.
Honestly, you get acclimated to it anyway lol

And thanks! I am happy with what I have managed to pick up.
It would have been nice to start a few years earlier though lol
I picked up a lot of nice games before prices really spiked.
I'm glad I kept this blog because it is funny to look back to see how prices have changed.
I sold Pokemon XD for $30 back when that was its going rate..
Now it's like $150+ lol

But yeah, my collection definitely carries some value now.
It is sort of a double-edged sword though.
My ultimate goal was to collect the full GameCube set..
Now the current prices make that seem unattainable lol
But it is nice to know it carries some value for when I eventually move on and sell it all off
