My holiday vacations are over.
I'm back to my routine of hitting up my usual thrift stores!

Here is a small pickup from my last stop at Half Priced Books:

NASCAR Thunder 2003 Gamecube

Well, here we are. I purchased a NASCAR game with my own hard earned money.
Can't say I'm a fan and my only exposure is probably Daytona USA lol
Who knows, maybe it is not too bad?
I'm a fan of other racing games..

My backlog is so large right now I don't know if I'll ever give this game a proper play.
But it's a cheap and complete Gamecube game I don't have!

Playstation Underground V 2.3 Demo Disc

I don't normally pick up demo discs.. but I don't normally see ones like this!
These came with the Playstation Underground magazine I think
I was pretty young during the Playstation era and didn't know the magazine even existed ha.

Back in those days, I loved getting demo discs though!
I got a couple from Software Etc. that I poured a lot of hours into.
Kind of funny to think about now, but I didn't have many games to choose from and just played what I could.
I spent a lot of time playing a Toomba demo..
I wish I would have purchased the actual game because it goes for a lot now T_T

Anyway, this is a pretty impressive little demo disc.
It has a lot of behind the scenes info for Spyro, Crash Bandicoot, and Parrapa the Rappa.
There are a few nice playable demos like Duke Nukem, Metal Gear Solid, and Kain Soul Reaver 2.
It has Some downloadable content like all unlockable characters for Tekken 3.
It even has demos for imports like Guilty Gear.

Moreover, a lot of love was put into this packaging for a free demo:

Pretty neat. :)

It's not really valuable or anything.
Just a cool curiosity that was too cheap to not buy! haha

Anyone else have some of these demos?

Paid $2 for this lot.

My latest online haul finally came in the mail:

Resident Evil GameCube
Resident Evil 4 GameCube

I'm embarrassed to say I've still never played an RE game..
But I think these are great ones to introduce me to the series.

I picked up RE 4 on the Wii a couple years ago but I shelved it in hopes of getting the GC version.
I'm particularly excited to finally play this game!

RE 4 is often regarded as one of the best games for the platform.
Capcom took the series in a different direction with this game, leaning more into the action genre rather than pure survival-horror.
From the game play I've seen, it looks great!

Soul Caliber 2 GameCube
Capcom Vs. SNK 2 EO GameCube
Tales of Symphonia GameCube

A couple of great arcade fighters and probably the most popular JRPG for the system?

I'm not particularly a fan of arcade fighters..
They are really meant to be played with another person.
Sadly, I don't have many friends as interested in retrogames as me to play with :(

I have fond memories of Soul Caliber 2, although I played it on Xbox.
I don't think I have ever actually played it on GameCube, but Link is definitely the best console exclusive character!

I think the Capcom and SNK fighters are really amazing, but I am terrible at these games lol
Seems like a GameCube controller wouldn't be the best way to play?
All I know is it's a decently sought after game!

Tales of Symphonia is a game I hope to play through soon.
I'm a big fan of the real time fighting systems in the Tales series.
I haven't played one of these games in many years, it will be a nice change of pace.
I've watched some game play footage and it seems pretty good.
The art direction is nice.. It's cell shaded but has more detail than many other cell shaded games.
The voice acting in the game seems pretty bad though.
IMO a lot of games really suffered during this era from poor voice acting.
I'm just prefer the text boxes lol

Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes GameCube
Super Mario Galaxy Wii

Two AMAZING games!

I already own both of these so they will be resold to recoup some money.
Twin Snakes is particularly a game I highly recommend if you stumble upon a copy.
I actually prefer is over the original PS1 release.

Sadly, this version has some peeling on the top of the disk.
It doesn't affect gameplay, but it does knock the value a little bit.
I recently learned that this is a common problem with this game.
Either war, the game still goes for around $40-$50.

Paid $80 for this lot.
Very happy to pay this price as everything is complete and in good shape! :)
I will be able to recover most of this cost reselling the doubles.

My latest Goodwill haul:

Star Strike Intellivision

I don't find Intellevision games at goodwill very often, especially with the box.
It's not 100% complete, I believe there are some controller overlays that are missing.
Either way, it's a pretty neat little find!
Not valuable or rare, just something I don't see around too much.

For $1, I'm happy to rescue it from Goodwill and give it a proper home.
I'm going to trade it in to my local gamestore (probably for less than a $1 lol)
But I think someone would appreciate it!

It's kind of amusing to see what videogames were almost 40 years ago!

I really love the artwork in the brochure :)

Sonic Adventure 2 Battel GameCube

Always happy to see a non-sports GameCube game at Goodwill.
I actually picked this game up a while ago from Half Priced Books.
I didn't have the manual or inserts though so I'll take the upgrade for $3.

I'll sell off my incomplete copy for a little profit :)

Forgot to use my Goodwill gift card for Star Strike lol

Traded in a couple things at my local gamestore.
Nothing major, just stuff I have no plans to play or not worth the effort to sell.

Parted with

Star Strike
Crash Nitro Kart PS2
Kinectica PS2
Virtua Fighter 4 PS2

and got a new GameCube game for my effort!

NHL Hitz 2002

It's maybe a little strange but I was very happy to get a copy of this game!
I played it a lot on Xbox with a friend when it was new lol

The middway arcade sports games are some of my most played games tbh.
I play NFL blitz and NBA jam with friends pretty regularly.
But I didn't have a hockey version!

It's held up just okay.
It feels a little too random when a shot goes in.
But it's basically what it sounds like, quick action, no rules hockey.
Definitely happy to have it! :)

This week's Goodwill haul:

Mario Party 8 Wii
Super Mario Galaxy Wii

A couple of must have Wii games!
I already own them both though lol
I actually have 2 additional copies of Galaxy right now lol

Mario Party 8 is maybe my favorite Mario Party game
I really think the Wii controls make this version easy to play

My friend group doesn't really play retro games (or any video games really..).
But I can convince them occasionally play MP8 with me lol

I have been wanting to downsize some of my Wii library lately.
My Wii has really become more of a GameCube machine.
Most Wii games aren't worth much more than $5 alone and it's usually not worth the effort to sell.
I have a few Wii titles that I don't really care to hang on to...
I might bundle these two titles together with some other games to clear room for more GameCube B)

Need for Speed Carbon Collector's Edition Xbox 360
Zelda Twilight Princess Wii

A pretty uncommon 360 game.
From my understanding, it is the same as Carbon with additional cars and tracks.
It also comes with a bonus DVD.. who knows what is on it? lol
It is on the resell list!

Twilight princess is an easy sell for $10.
I haven't played this game since it was first released.

I really want to revisit it, but I am holding out to hopefully pickup the GameCube version.

Got these for $12!

I am actually surprised to see some of these priced at $3
Not that these games are particularly valuable or anything.
It's not too uncommon to see popular franchise games like these in the glass case for $9.99 though.
(Not too long ago I saw Skyward sword in there for $15)

I believe it is Goodwill policy that employees cannot purchase items while at work.
However I go to goodwill enough to notice one guy who works there will buy videogames after his shift.
I kind of think he priced these low hoping he could pick them up after his shift.
He came by the register and asked my cashier if I purchase "those video games".
Kind of awkward, and makes me feel a little bad for him.. especially because I plan to resell these.
But I'm just buying them for what they are asking though so whatever! lol

Sweet finds, I love seeing the different games you find.

Do you think your better hauls are from garage sales or from goodwill stores?

Thanks! :)

I think there are better deals to be found at garage sales, but it takes more effort.
Many Saturdays I have driven around all morning to find very little retro items.
Now I limit my garage sale trips to community sales/neighborhood garage sales rather than randomly driving around.
It's more efficient that way.

I like Goodwill because it is quick and easy.
I have my search down to a science where I can pop in for 10-15 minutes a couple times a week and maybe get lucky.

Goodwill is strange though.
They are really inconsistent between stores.
Some charge DVD price for games, but most charge more.
Some don't even put out video game related items and instead sell them on their online auction.
I'm lucky to live in a town with a decent one.
But even then, there are two in my town and one never has anything good.
