nice update those new type r's get pretty loud.
I would have tried to shoot for an Audiopipe 1800 or better to run those since they are 1000RMS each and the audiopipes usually do slightly less than rated.

True on the amp choice. Still waiting to get a higher output amp (the factory one is 150A) and I threw them in a slightly oversized box for alpine's specs (the box is 4.5 cu. ft. and alpine suggests 1.71 cu. ft. max in ported applications). I figured the extra size should allow me to get away with a little less power and yeah these things bang pretty damn loud. Even at the gain at minimum with no bass boost if i set the head unit at 75% max volume the rear window wiper blade bounces off the glass. Next upgrade is replacing the stock 6x8's with either 6x8 type s, 6x8 type r, or 6x8 NVX VSP68.

Additionally the type r says it's rated at 1000 watts RMS but I've seen stories of people frying the voice coils when putting that much power through them. I think they really should be rated closer to 750 watts RMS.

I mean if they woofer says 1000RMS it has been tested for 1000RMS, theres other factors that can blow a woofer like bad electrical, improper tuning, or box was too big. The old Type R's were rated for 600 and I know people who were putting nearly twice that on them.

Just threw some rockford fosgate p1683's in the doors (4 of em). Not amp'd up currently but I might do it later. The last and final upgrade is putting in a Pioneer AVH-X3800BHS and maybe a 4 channel mini amp or something to really drive those 6x8's
