I never said they couldn't be well tempered. But it's like blood in water for a shark. Instinct can set in and the will snap at any moment.
How many times has a pit attacked another dog or little girl and the owner said 'he's never done something like this. He's such a good boy and so loving'
Their instinct says to kill. It's like a lion being raised in captivity as a pet. It can still turn and be vicious. May never happen sure, but it's in their nature
Actually their tendency to bite is lower than most other breeds, the only thing is that when they do bite its usually a brutal injury so theyre more publicized. The #1 dog breeds to bite is chihuahuas, terriers, and labs.
Pitbulls have the highest fatality and injury rates not because there are so many vicious ones, but because every bite is an incident. Not to mention due to their reputation many of the animals are purposely trained to be aggressive. Think of the biggest asshole you know. He probably has a pitbull, right?
Id say over 90% of the time when a pitbull "inexpectedly bites" the dog had either given signs prior and the owner is an idiot, or the owner put the dog in a stressful situation.
I know my girl used to be great with kids but now that shes older and has bad legs she doesnt like kids as much, because they usually tug on her tail or theyre not careful with her injuries, so I keep her away from kids because shes shown signs of being impatient. Because im not an idiot owner lol. Shes never bit and I really dont think she would unless some dumbass parent left their kid unattended who provoked it.
