what kind of reel? spinning? baitcaster? open faced? closed face? trolling?

what kind of rod? fly rod? spin rod? casting rod?

what species of fish are you going to be fishing for?

I can help you if you answer those questions

I recently bought a Penn Battle II 2500 to go on a No. 8 Tackle Medium/Fast 7' Spinning Rod.
However, my GF broke my rod yesterday by closing it in a door...
So I'm currently looking at getting the same rod or developing this rod/reel combo into a specialized system for just a few different lures.
(as it's my only setup, I've been throwing all kinds of lures and setups on it)
Reel has 20lb Timber Brown Power Pro braid on it.
And no specific species I am fishing for... just fishing.
Mostly saltwater as the only fresh water in Louisiana is ponds.

not much of a saltwater angler so can't really help you but Penn makes nice reels. I would've recommended Shimano, but Penn is right up there.
