I always took it as how hard a set feels. 155 still felt like a decent working weight at the 10th rep, but my body was fatigued and shaky, so it was a bitch to not get gassed out.

I started using RPE as a determinant on whether the weight was enough or too much, mostly on working sets.. But I'm still learning, so thanks bruh.

Just for clarification, and RPE9 means you could only do 1 more rep - so yes that was a hard set

If you say you had 3 in the tank, then that was an RPE7 (not that hard)

If your energy felt good, I don't see the harm. Deloading is rest, and rest is part repair and part adaptation time. It has value but as someone who was always overtrained as an athlete, I've only started to embrace rest this year (and only this year b/c I stopped playing in my basketball league).

RDLs = video worthy material, true gym rat stuff

Also, gz on the 8s. I personally love doing 8s. It goes back to when I was bodybuilding in hs. 8s were pretty much the working minimum. When I did 8s, I always went for 12s. I just like the feeling of doing 8s. It's comfortable, but it can give you a pump, too. Plus, when you start doing 8s that beat most guys' maxes, it's fun.
