but why dont they just jump on Trumps 2020 "promises made, promises kept"-bandwagon?
tax cuts, a thriving economy, deregulation and a business-friendly environment in general, peace talks with north korea, getting NATO allies to finally carry their fair share of the burden, giving the police the political backing that they had long been missing under the previous administration, a sharp decline in immigration levels, a tougher deportation regime, finally doing something about china's unfair and exploitive trade habits, improving relationships with key allies in the middle east, a firmer support for israel - those are all points that should appeal to the republican base.
why not mention those points, followed by something along the lines of "but we are not done yet. we need your vote to achieve a solid majority in congress that allows us to finally repeal obamacare, fund the rebuilding of our infrastructure and get the migration chaos under control"?
its simple really, "we're doing good, but u can help us do better" isn't an inspiring message. "get out there or they'll ruin everything" is.
based on the internal data of the GOP it seems they're desperate to inspire voters that otherwise might not vote. scoreboard messaging is decent for pulling in some centrists if you've already got a lead, it seems they think they dont have a lead.
