Are there any other ways to get rid of a lens locally? I don't do mailing, I don't do online (other than to set a meeting place / price), so I am limited to local buyers.

Basically, I'm getting a lot of spam on craigslist, and I'm trying to sell two lenses and a DSLR at the same time (to fund a DSLR upgrade). One of my lenses in particular (Sigma 18-35 Art) I really want gone first, but I don't want to dip my price too low.

Anyone experienced with this? How long do you usually wait for replies on specialty glass?

I'm in a group on fb called camera gear, a lot of people on there will only sell locally too. You could do a search for groups like that, specifically for areas around you too.

I'll try to find one for Vancouver, BC, Canada. If you know of one for there, please do let me know! It's tough looking through Facebook groups, I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to that. I'm a techy but social media confounds me.

I hope I can get $700 at least for the Sigma 18-35 Art. I paid $800 (US) + $50 (Duty) + about 9% on exchange rate, coming to about $950. A wasted $250, just like I wasted money on a damn coat from China for $140 last year. These stupid purchases add up and make me feel like an idiot!

/end rant.

Thanks for the help!

It isn't too hard, just use the search :P. This is the first one that popped up, seems pretty active:

I want an art lens. I'm thinking about just replacing my 50 for it though. Damn where are you shopping in China that they have $140 coats? I shop on aliexpress and everything I get is cheap af.

Oh I went onto jackthreads and thought the coat was great. It's alright. Problem is it's an overcoat and it has a cheap breast zipper on both sides, didn't really think much of it until I got it... girlfriend made fun of me... it has not been worn since. :'(

Hmmm maybe I'll try that group.

Thanks for getting me the link.

https://www.keh.com/search/list?s=sigma+18-35

likely-hood of getting $700 is a stretch

They sell brand new from there for about that price.

Anyone who knows how to buy used gear will know that.

Craigslist works as well as facebook groups.

Your best bet is heavily populated places online like e ba y and amazon. Also, Photography-on-the.net has a great selling area

Damn. Maybe I'll come down further. The guy who offered me 650 isn't responding oddly. Oh well. I countered him at 680.

That is us dollars though right? Exchange rate is terrible, Canadian dollar is worth 20% less. So 700 in the US is 840 here, and then taxes and possible duty fees.
