The sabbath year (shmita Hebrew: שמיטה‎, literally "release") also called the sabbatical year or sheviit (Hebrew: שביעית‎, literally "seventh") is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the Torah for the Land of Israel,[1] and still observed in contemporary Judaism.

The Jubilee (Hebrew yovel יובל) year is the year at the end of seven cycles of shmita (Sabbatical years), and according to Biblical regulations had a special impact on the ownership and management of land in the Land of Israel; there is some debate whether it was the 49th year (the last year of seven sabbatical cycles, referred to as the Sabbath's Sabbath), or whether it was the following (50th) year. Jubilee deals largely with land, property, and property rights. According to Leviticus, slaves and prisoners would be freed, debts would be forgiven, and the mercies of God would be particularly manifest. Leviticus 25:8-13 states:

"And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years. Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land. And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family. A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed. For it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field. In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession."

What would someone who is Jewish and observing the religious practices do with money in the stock market. Some consider it a form of farming. What about loans to his friends (jewish). What if the friend is not jewish?

What will happen with land in Israel (if anything) on the Jubilee (or what is supposed to happen).

I appreciate any serious thoughts/input on the matter. Thanks.

Im not religious so i cant answer the majority of your questions. Google probably can though.

Can answer this though, from general knowledge:
What will happen with land in Israel (if anything) on the Jubilee (or what is supposed to happen).

The landowner can choose to either farm it or not - depending on if he/she follows the practice.

Options if you're not religious / not a jew:
1) Farm as usual

Options if you are a religious jew:
1) Do nothing with the land for the year
2) Rent the land to a non-jew to farm for that year

The halakhic laws during the shemitah concerning loans are as follows:

In general, when you loan someone money, you're not allowed to demand him to return the money in less than 30 days after the loan. If he gives it to you, youre allowed to accept it.

A shemitah can cancel a debt. It's called chemitah kessafim

Now, what if you lend someone money and in less the 30 days, the shmitah starts? It doesn't get cancelled because you're still not even alowed to demand the money so it would be unfair for the loaner. If you lended money 30 days or more before the shemitah and when the shemitah starts he still hasn't repaid you, the debt is cancelled and he doesn't owe you anything.
We are now talking about a general money loan, but if you lend someone 10 000$ and you tell him at the time of the transaction that he can repay 5 years frpm now, it can't get cancelled by the shemitah.
Concerning the general 50 or 100$ for example loans that can get cancelled by the shemitah, you can impose a Perouzboul( arameic word in the guemara) with your bet din that states that the loan can't get cancelled by the shemitah, as simple as that. you can even do it online, on halakhayomit.com
If you have any more halakhic questions let me know
