The oilers have virtually an identical record this year as last year at this point. It’s the other teams in division that are underperforming resulting in us being on top. Prior to to the buffalo game we had 1 more win and one less loss than last year after the same number of games.
This is also the same time last year that 3/6 of our defensemen went down, I have no reason to believe if our team remains relatively healthy we will keep this pace. Will other teams pick it up? Idk
A realistic outlook.
I want the Oilers to do well but the same problems are still there.
Behind Mcdavid and Draisatl there is not enough scoring. RNH probably won't finish close to 70 points again and even though Neal is putting up some goals his +/- is atrocious so he must be scoring primarily on the PP.
Suspect D and goaltending at times add to the problem.
I want this team to make the playoffs but I just don't see them performing well when things tighten up down the stretch. I hope I am wrong.
